Kara Peterson, Ph.D.

Dr. Kara Peterson earned her Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, United Kingdom. She has spent her career working with children, adolescents, and young adults across school, clinical, and community settings, and is passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves and thrive. Kara is known for her warm, collaborative style and her ability to help clients and families feel comfortable, supported, and understood throughout the assessment and therapy process.

Kara specializes in comprehensive psychological evaluations, with particular experience in learning differences, autism, ADHD, anxiety, mood concerns, and behavioral challenges. She has worked extensively in public school districts and outpatient clinics, and has advanced training in evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, and trauma-informed care. She brings strong training in behavioral intervention and enjoys partnering with school and treatment teams to create consistent, supportive plans. Kara works from a whole-person perspective, helping clients build on their strengths while carefully understanding the challenges they face.

Outside of work, Kara loves spending time with her family and young daughter. She deeply enjoys being a mother and finds joy in reading, traveling, hiking, and practicing meditation.
