First, we will ask you to complete an inquiry form to provide background information about why you are seeking an evaluation or therapy services at this time. After completing the inquiry form, you’ll be prompted to schedule an intake phone call with one of our intake coordinators. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about our group and the services we offer.

Does Wasatch Learning & Wellness take insurance?

Our practice is an out-of-network provider so we do not work with or bill insurance for any of the services we provide. We have elected not to contract with insurance companies because providing a comprehensive evaluation is important to us. Insurance companies are typically unwilling to pay for the extent of testing we choose to conduct. Administering tests to address all areas of concern allows us to provide the level of diagnostic clarity we strive to offer our clients. It is our mission to provide diagnoses we feel confident in and offer guidance for how to move forward. Not accepting insurance also helps us to maintain confidentiality and protect your privacy because we won’t share evaluation results/diagnoses with an insurance company without your permission. This is an added benefit of having a private evaluation.

Once an evaluation or therapy service is complete, clients are welcome to request a superbill from our administrative staff. A superbill is a detailed receipt suitable for submitting to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please contact us for more information about the process for requesting a superbill.

How many test sessions does it typically take to complete in-person testing?

We typically schedule 2 test sessions for children/adolescents to allow plenty of time for breaks and to reduce the likelihood of fatigue. Adult test sessions may take place in a single day or across 2 sessions. We can also individualize the number of test sessions to meet the needs of the client.

What do I tell my child prior to their first test session?

Children and adolescents may have questions about why they are coming to our office for an evaluation. You can tell your child the purpose of an evaluation is to understand how they learn so that you, and your child’s school, can help and understand them better. You can also explain that they will do a lot of different activities during a test session including puzzles, looking at pictures, listening to stories, and tasks that might be similar to what they do at school. When you come to our office, the psychologist assigned to your child’s evaluation will greet you and describe what to expect during the test session. The psychologist and our administrative staff are always happy to answer any questions you, or your child, have about our group and services. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions by calling our office at (385) 645-4947.

We have an article with more suggestions about how to talk with your child about their test session and what they can expect. To read the article, click here.

What should I bring to a test session?

Most test sessions take place across several hours (2-3 hours at a minimum) so we recommend bringing a water bottle, snacks, and something to do during breaks. Our waiting area is also equipped with a filtered water dispenser, coffee, and tea.

We highly value the privacy of our clients and are committed to maintaining confidentiality. As such, we will not provide a client’s evaluation results or diagnoses to anyone without written permission from the client.
